UpEnergy achieves historic milestone

We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone in our journey towards a sustainable future: UpEnergy has achieved a historic accomplishment by securing Tanzania’s first-ever authorization for carbon credits under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.

This monumental achievement comes in the form of a Letter of Authorization (LOA) from the Government of Tanzania, graciously signed by Hon. Dr. Selemani Saidi Jafo, Minister of State for Environment and Union Affairs. This authorization signifies Tanzania’s commitment to leveraging international climate finance mechanisms to drive emission reductions and combat climate change effectively.

Through our innovative Community Carbon initiative, UpEnergy is dedicated to deploying cleaner cookstoves across Tanzania, thereby reducing emissions and improving air quality while positively impacting local communities. This authorization validates the critical role of international climate finance in fostering sustainable development and facilitating a just energy transition, particularly in regions like the Global South.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the United Republic of Tanzania and its National Carbon Monitoring Centre (NCMC) for their invaluable support throughout this journey. Their partnership has been instrumental in realizing this groundbreaking achievement, which paves the way for future climate action initiatives in the region.

As we embark on this historic endeavor, we are committed to providing further updates and insights into our progress in the weeks to come. We invite you to stay tuned for more exciting developments as we continue to advance our mission of creating a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable world.

Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to our shared vision of a brighter future for all.
